Everyone loves fried chicken, and I got to feeling down that I could not provide it from my Paleo kitchen. So I found a fried chicken recipe that is totally Paleo-compliant. I made this the other night, and you should have seen the smile on people’s faces when they started eating.
I’ve been looking for a pair of boots that will give me as close to a barefoot experience as I can get, and still keep my feet warm. Turns out is not an easy thing to find — most boots have big, thick soles. I wanted as little sole as possible. After some research, I found my solution.
It’s been hard to find a convenient and reliable source for grass-fed beef. The places I have found so far have required me to go out of my way, or to set up drop-off and pick-up appointments. I knew about South Mountain — they are located not far from Frederick, Maryland — but I thought of them as milk and dairy-only. Then my trainer, Grant Hill, told me they provided all manner of food and I got excited.
I have long understood, intellectually, that the water I drink during practice does me little good. If I am improperly hydrated when I show up for class, pounding a quart of water will not save me. Yet, I cling to that water bottle as if my life in that 90 minutes depended on it. But now, I leave my water bottle outside the studio. The result? A new feeling of invigoration.
As I write, I’m on the way home Sunday morning on the Acela train, after an all day immersion yesterday in New York City with Baron Baptiste. It was an amazing experience. There’s one aspect of the day that I found remarkable and quite helpful, at least to me on my own yoga journey, and it is one of my main takeaways from the experience.
Having someone else in the workout puts me on my best behavior. As we go through our circuits, I don’t want to let my partner down. I see him persevering, and I push myself that much harder.
Every morning, I take a small amount of raw liver. Why? It makes me feel awesome! Here’s more info.
I got a new Crock Pot for Christmas, so of course I had to cook a pot roast in it . . . and I immediately moved on to even greater heights by whipping up some incredible Paleo chili from scratch. Since this is from scratch, IT’S MESSY. Good for a Sunday.
Today at the gym I did my “Workout B” — Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Presses, and a metabolic conditioning routine (in this case two times Box Jump / Push Up 21-15-9 for time). How did I do?
I enjoy sharing with friends my dietary and lifestyle changes and how they have dramatically impacted my well-being, my weight, and my body composition. I have also begun to make some changes to my fitness routine that I thought might be of interest. I have been seeing good results.
